Annotation #6

Hosseini is using imagery in this scene to describe how Amir is giving money to a homeless old man. When Amir is handing about $3 (100,000 Afghanis) to the old man, it shows how the economy of Afghanistan is not doing that well. $3 in America does not really buy that many things. That means that the 100,000 Afghanis is not worth that much money, but even then it may mean the world to an Afghan because many of them are poor and homeless. It also hints at a possibility of Afghanistan facing an inflation.
